Resume Go Checker Explained: What ResumeGo's Free Scan Promises and Leaves Unsaid

The Resume Go checker (ResumeGo, at resumego.net) is a free scan of a Word or PDF resume, and its page says it will “evaluate all the elements of your resume to identify what you’ve done right and what needs to be improved upon.”¹ That is the whole specification: no score scale, no list of checks, no weights, no statement of whether an account is needed or how many scans are free. The page’s other job is to sell ResumeGo’s resume-writing service, and its opening line, “Find out if applicant tracking systems are tossing out your resume before it’s even read”, rests on a myth this page corrects below.

This page is research-based: it describes what ResumeGo’s public checker page says, read on 14 September 2026, and nothing more, because ResumeGo was not one of the eight tools in our one documented hands-on run. ATS Score Checker publishes a competing tool; read this as an interested party’s summary.

What does the Resume Go checker say it checks?

Everything and nothing: “all the elements of your resume”, with no element named. The page is about 200 words of visible copy under the title “Free Resume Checker and Scanner”, laid out as three steps:¹

1. Scan your resume: “Upload your resume as a Word Document or PDF file in order to get valuable information about your resume.”
2. Review our findings: “Evaluate all the elements of your resume to identify what you’ve done right and what needs to be improved upon.”
3. Perfect your resume: fix the weaker parts “to take your resume to that next level and secure more job interviews”, followed by “Does your resume need to be improved? Get professional help with our resume service.”

There is a “Use a sample resume” button, a claim of “over half a million job seekers around the globe”, and a row of press logos. Compare that with checkers that at least name their categories: Enhancv lists 27 checks, MyPerfectResume nine dimensions, GoodSpace 16 checks. ResumeGo’s page names none, which means you learn what it measures only after you upload.

Is there a “ResumeGo score”?

Not on the page. People search for “resume go score” and “resume go ats checker” because the tool is called a checker and scanner, and checkers usually give a number. ResumeGo’s page describes findings, strengths and weaknesses, and does not mention a score, a percentage or a band.¹ If the tool shows a number after upload, its scale and meaning are not documented anywhere we could read.

One trap worth naming. Search results for “ResumeGo checker” mix in two similarly named sites, resumgo.com (an “ATS resume scanner” page) and goresumego.com (“Go Resume Go Free Resume Check”). Descriptions of a weighted score with formatting and keywords at 30% each, or of a scan “processed in your browser”, circulate in those results and do not appear anywhere on resumego.net’s checker page.² Check the domain before you attribute a feature.

What is free and what is gated on ResumeGo?

The scan is called free; everything else is unstated. The page does not say whether you need an account, whether results are capped, how long the file is stored, or what the findings look like.¹ The one product with a price on the site is professional resume writing, reached through “Order Now” and “Level up my resume”. ResumeGo is a writing service first; the checker is its front door, the same pattern as Naukri’s resume-quality tool leading to Naukri’s writing service.

That pattern is not dishonest, but it sets the incentive: a free scan that finds nothing sells no writing service. So read every finding as a finding, verify it against your own file, and note whether the tool shows you the text it objected to. A finding with no text cannot be checked, and our hub page’s second criterion exists for that reason.

How does ResumeGo’s scan differ from a published rubric?

On its page, ResumeGo publishes no rubric at all; ours is public with weights. Our rubric on How we score has 34 checks across Parse fidelity 35, Findability 30, Impact 25 and Language 10, pass keeps the points, warn keeps half, fail keeps none, and the same file returns the same number every time.

We built the right-hand column. The left-hand column is short because the page is short; every “not stated” is a question to ask the tool after you upload.

Does an ATS “toss out” your resume before it is read?

No, and that premise on ResumeGo’s page is the one claim on it that can be checked. No mainstream ATS rejects a resume on its content or formatting; the only automatic rejection is a knockout question on the application form. In the 2025 recruiter survey this site cites, 92% of 25 recruiters said their system never auto-rejects on resume content.³ What a bad file does is subtler: it parses into the wrong fields, or it lacks the words the recruiter searches for, so it never appears in the shortlist. That is a visibility problem, and it is what a checker should test. The does an ATS reject your resume section traces where the “tossed out” idea came from.

For an Indian job seeker the relevant failure is even more specific: Naukri Resdex searches profile fields with a literal Boolean string, so a resume that no scanner objects to can still miss every search if the Naukri profile’s key skills are stale. No checker page, ResumeGo’s included, mentions that.

What should you do with a ResumeGo result?

Take any named weakness you can verify against your file, ignore the rejection framing, and check the parse somewhere that shows the extracted text. If ResumeGo’s findings point at bullets or a summary, they cost nothing to act on. If they point at layout, or say nothing about a two-column or header-band layout, confirm it with a parsed-text view before deciding the layout is fine.
