Best Free ATS Resume Checkers in India (2026): What Each Scores, Gates and Misses
Eleven checkers, nine criteria, the same questions asked of each. No free checker on Google India's first page shows its full fix list without an account, a payment, a marketing consent or a weekly cap, except the one we publish, and we say so as an interested party.
In this article · 11 sections
There is no single best ATS resume checker free of charge, because each one measures something different and most hide the reasons behind the number. Judged on the nine criteria below, Enhancv and MyPerfectResume show the most before a gate, Jobscan is the right tool when you have a job description and are willing to make an account, Resume Worded is the only third-party tool that shows you the text it parsed, and Naukri’s tool returns a band with no findings. ATS Score Checker, the tool this site publishes, is in the same table on the same criteria. We built it, so read the criteria first and check the table yourself.
Before comparing, the premise: whether ATS scores matter at all is a fair question, and the short answer is that they matter as a checklist for parse and search problems, not as a prediction of rejection. No mainstream ATS rejects a resume on its content; the only automatic rejection is a knockout question on the application form.
What criteria should a free ATS resume checker be judged on?
Nine things, and the same nine for every tool. A checker earns its place by what it shows you before it asks for something, not by its headline number.
- Free score. Does a number appear at all without paying?
- Full fix list free. Are all findings visible, with the text they came from, or only counts and locks?
- Signup or gate. What stands between upload and result: an account, an OTP, a marketing consent, a payment?
- JD match. Can you paste a job description and see named, missing terms?
- Shows parsed text. Can you see what the parser extracted, in reading order? This is the one check that proves the others.
- India checks. Does it know what a photo, date of birth, father’s name, marks table, declaration block, CTC and notice period do to a parse and to a recruiter?
- Repeat scans. Can you fix and re-check without a cap?
- File types. PDF, .docx, pasted text.
- Publishes its rubric. Are the checks and their weights public, and is the score the same for the same file every time?
The evidence for each tool is research-based: the tool’s own public page, read on 11 and 14 September 2026, plus the one documented hands-on run, described in the next section, in which we ran one resume through eight checkers on 12 September 2026.1 Where a fact comes from a third-party review rather than the vendor, the text says so. No ratings are invented.
The test we ran: one resume, eight checkers
One clean, single-column resume scored 70, 72, 80 and 85 on four page-one checkers on the same afternoon, a fifth returned the word “High”, and three showed nothing before an account, an OTP or a login. That run, made on 12 September 2026, is the only hands-on evidence on this page; every other fact here is read from the tools’ public pages, and the table below says which is which.1
The two files and the method
We built two PDFs. The first is a clean, single-column resume for a Java developer with three and a half years at two well-known companies: standard headings, Month YYYY dates on every role, a metric in six of seven bullets. The second is the resume most Indian freshers actually have: two columns, a photo, contact details in a coloured header band, a 10th/12th marks table, skill bars, father’s name, date of birth and a signed declaration. It was built to trip every parse check we know of, and it is the harder test, because a checker that cannot name those hazards is not testing what it says it tests.
Both files went into every tool on the first page of Google India for “ats resume checker”, on a desktop and again at phone width, and we wrote down exactly what each tool showed before it asked for anything: the number, the time it took, and what stood between the upload and the findings.
What each tool returned on the clean file
| Tool | Clean resume | Time to score | What stood in the way |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1MillionResume | 70 | ~6 s | One run a week; “critical” evidence paywalled |
| MyPerfectResume | 72 | ~17 s | Findings are counts with no text |
| Enhancv | 80 | ~20 s | 14 of 27 checks locked; one free report |
| cxolanes | 85 | ~6 s | Ads over the button; findings change between runs |
| Naukri | “High” | ~4 s | No number, no findings |
| GoodSpace, Resume Worded, Jobscan | none | none | OTP or account wall before anything |
Tool by tool, with what each says it measures on its own page (read 11 September 2026) beside what it showed us:
- 1MillionResume promises a score “on 18+ parameters”, one free run a week. It gave 70 in about six seconds, then “Personal pronoun detected, Critical” with the evidence behind an upgrade button. The file contains no pronouns.
- MyPerfectResume grades “more than 30 criteria” and is the only third-party tool here that accepts pasted text. It gave 72 in about 17 seconds; every finding was a count with no text attached, so nothing could be checked against the file.
- Enhancv scores the share of content parsed plus the issues found across 27 listed checks, with “higher than 80” called mostly good. It gave 80 in about 20 seconds, 14 of 27 checks locked, one free report, and two misspellings, “projekts” and “crickets”. Neither word is in the file. The fix on offer was a Pro upgrade.
- cxolanes describes an upload, consent and analyse flow, says on its page that it runs on Google Gemini, and has no paid tier, only advertising. It gave 85 in about six seconds with an ad over the button. A second run of the same file returned different findings, one of them advice to add a date of birth.
- Naukri’s landing page describes score bands and a report; its button leads to the older Resume Quality Score tool, which asks you to authorise calls and SMS about paid services. It returned the word “High” in about four seconds, with no number and no findings; the “detailed feedback” is the resume-writing service.
- GoodSpace says on its page that the first scan needs no signup; we met an OTP wall first. Resume Worded asks for an account after upload, as its page says it will. Jobscan asked for an account before any result. None of the three showed a number.
The invented findings
Two tools reported things that are not in the file: Enhancv’s two misspellings and 1MillionResume’s pronoun. A third, cxolanes, changed its findings between runs of an unchanged file, which is what a language model does when no rule pins it. A score you cannot check is a sales number. That is why criterion 2 above asks whether a finding shows the text it came from, and why every finding on this site shows the text or the region of your file behind it, with a button to tell us we are wrong.
The hazards nobody named
The second file is the real test, and every tool failed it the same way. No tool mentioned the two columns, the photo, the contact band, the marks table or the skill bars. MyPerfectResume re-rendered “Father’s Name” and “Marital Status” back to us without comment. The one thing every checker claims to test, whether an ATS parser can read your file, is the one thing none of them tested. For scale, our golden set scores a hazardous two-column fresher resume 62 on our rubric, against 94 for a clean single-column file; the checks that separate the two are the ones no tool in this run mentioned.
Why the numbers differ, and what a score should measure instead
Each tool weights something different: Enhancv leans on design and content, Jobscan on keyword overlap with a job description, 1MillionResume on a word-count band, cxolanes on whatever a language model felt like that minute. None of them publish the weights. Two are not deterministic, so the same file moves between runs.
A score should measure parse fidelity (will the structured fields be right), findability (will a recruiter’s search surface you) and readability (will a human get it in seven seconds), weighted, published, the same every time, with the extracted text on show. That is what this site does, and every weight is on the How we score page.
Each checker on the same nine criteria
Eleven tools, each held to the list above, in brief; the table after this section carries every criterion, and the linked brand pages carry the detail.
Enhancv
Score out of 100 from two tiers, the share of content parsed and the issues found, with “higher than 80” called mostly good; 27 checks in seven categories listed on the page.2 Free: the score and the ATS-compatibility fixes. Gated: HR red flags, bias, career progression and rewrites. In our run: 80 in about 20 seconds, 14 of 27 checks locked, one free report, and two misspellings reported that were not in the file.1 PDF or DOCX to 2 MB, job description optional, no parsed-text view, no India checks. Detail on the enhance cv ats checker page.
MyPerfectResume
A “resume strength score” against 30-plus criteria in three groups.3 The one third-party tool here that accepts pasted text (plus DOC, DOCX, PDF, HTML, RTF, TXT to 5 MB); no job-description field. In our run: 72 in about 17 seconds, findings as counts with no text, and “Father’s Name” re-rendered without comment.1 Fixes live in the paid builder ($2.95 trial renewing at $23.95 every four weeks, per third-party reviews). Detail on my perfect resume ats score.
Jobscan
A match rate against one pasted job description, built from hard skills, education, job title, soft skills and other keywords, with 75% recommended and 65% called workable.4 Account before any result in our run.1 Five free scans a month and Premium at $49.95 a month, per third-party reviews. No India checks, no published weights. Detail on the jobscan ats page.
Resume Worded
“30+” checks in four groups, 85 called good, 90+ “passes every check we run”; the one third-party tool that shows the extracted text.5 English resumes, PDF or DOCX to 2 MB. “Create a free account to continue” after upload on 14 September, matching the wall in our run.1 Line-by-line report, job-description match and rewrites are Pro ($49 a month, per third parties). No India checks. Detail on resume worded ats score.
Naukri 360
The landing page describes bands and a report; its button leads to the older Resume Quality Score tool, which takes pdf or docx to 2 MB or your Naukri profile and asks you to authorise calls and SMS about paid services.6 In our run: the word “High” in about four seconds, no number, no findings; detailed feedback is the resume-writing service.1 No India-specific checks despite the origin. Detail on naukri 360 ats resume checker.
GoodSpace
Score out of 100 on 16 listed checks; full report ₹99 a scan, Gold ₹999 a month (₹639 on six months) for 15 scans.7 Page says the first scan needs no signup; our run met an OTP wall first.1 PDF, DOC or DOCX to 10 MB, job description optional, strong India copy, no India field checks. More in the GoodSpace section below.
1MillionResume
Score in seconds on “18+ parameters”, PDF, DOC or DOCX to 5 MB, optional target job role, one free run a week.8 In our run: 70 in about six seconds, then “Personal pronoun detected, Critical” with the evidence paywalled; the file has no pronouns.1 Pro $30 for three months. More in the 1MillionResume section below.
Zety
A builder with a checker attached. Its checker page did not load for us on 14 September 2026; third-party reviews place the checker behind a free account and full results behind a paid plan ($1.95 for 14 days, then $25.95 every four weeks).9 Every Zety cell in the table is unverified. Detail on zety resume checker when that page is confirmed.
ResumeGo
A free scan of a Word or PDF file that promises to show what you did right and what needs improving; the page names no checks, no scale and no gate, and sells resume writing alongside.10 Detail on resume go checker.
Nodeflair
Its page returned a 403 to our fetch on 14 September. From its indexed listing: free, PDF, DOC or DOCX, needs a job title and a pasted description, returns missing keywords; Singapore tech roots. Unverified on gates, parsed text and repeat scans. Detail on nodeflair resume checker.
ATS Score Checker
Score out of 100 in about 10 seconds from a PDF, a .docx or pasted text, no signup. Every check shown with evidence, why it matters, the fix and its points; a “What the ATS read” tab with the extracted text in reading order; a separate job-description tab with named, implied and missing terms; India and bias flags shown separately and never counted; unlimited re-check with deltas. Rubric public on How we score: Parse fidelity 35, Findability 30, Impact 25, Language 10, deterministic. Uploaded files are stored for re-check and deleted on request. We publish this page and this tool.
You can run the free ATS resume checker on your own file and compare its findings with anything above.
The comparison table
Same nine criteria, one row per tool. “Page” means observed on the tool’s public page on 11 or 14 September 2026; “run” means the documented 12 September test; “third party” means a review site, not the vendor.

The last row is ours. It is also the only row we can vouch for from the inside, which is exactly why the other ten rows carry their sources.
GoodSpace ATS resume checker explained: free scan vs the ₹99 report
GoodSpace’s free scan gives the headline score; the report that tells you why is ₹99 for one resume. The page’s own mock-up shows what the paid view holds: an ATS parse rate, sub-scores for Clarity, Style, Sections, Skills and Impact, a keyword-match count and a sections-parsed line, with “the detailed ATS report, ATS keywords, impact score” listed as what ₹99 unlocks.7
The 16 checks are grouped as ATS Compatibility (parseability, PDF and DOCX compatibility, section detection, contact-info readability), Keyword Analysis (role skills, gap against a pasted JD, keyword stuffing, recruiter search terms), Content Quality (numbers, action verbs, spelling, clichés) and Format and Structure (one to two pages, missing sections, problematic layout, date-format consistency). That is a sensible list. What is not on it is anything Indian resumes specifically carry: the page talks about Naukri and Indian freshers at length, but no check looks for a photo, a date of birth, a father’s name, a marks table or a declaration.
Two cautions. The page repeats the recycled claim that three-quarters of resumes are filtered out by bots, a 2012 vendor figure with no study behind it; see does an ATS reject your resume. And the page says the first scan needs no signup, while our 12 September run met an OTP wall first.1 If you try it, note which of the two you get.
The Gold plan (₹999 a month, ₹639 a month on six months) bundles 15 scans with mock interviews, cover letters and builder resumes. If all you want is the reasons behind one score, ₹99 is the relevant price.
1MillionResume free resume checker explained
1MillionResume’s free tier gives one run a week and a score; the reasons behind “critical” findings are Pro. The page promises a “10 page report and instant score on 18+ parameters”, a separate keyword-coverage score when you type a target job role, and a “download and send when score exceeds 75” nudge.8 The 18-plus parameters cover mandatory data, language, keywords, personal information, sections, readability, generic bullets, common words, an AI-language check, quantification, missing keywords and file parsing errors.
In our test the clean file scored 70 in about six seconds. The report then flagged “Personal pronoun detected, Critical” with the evidence behind an upgrade button. The file has no pronouns.1 A finding you cannot see the text for is a finding you cannot check, and this is the reason criterion 2 above asks for the text, not the count.
Pricing on the page is in dollars with UPI accepted: Basic $4 for one month with one Pro check, Pro $30 for three months with 50 checks a month, AI optimisation and JD matching. The FAQ’s weekly cap on free runs does not appear on the pricing page’s free-plan listing, so expect the cap.
The India angle is implicit: CTC-jump testimonials in LPA, resume-writing pages for Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. No India-specific checks are listed.
Kickresume and Novoresume ATS checkers explained
Kickresume’s ATS checker is a premium feature; Novoresume’s is free without signup but needs a job description. Both are builders first, and both are asked about because their templates are common on Indian campuses.
Is the Kickresume ATS score free?
No. Kickresume’s checker page says it “simulates a real Applicant Tracking System scan” with “more than 20 different checks” across design, structure and content.11 Its pricing page on 14 September 2026 listed the ATS resume checker as unavailable on the free plan, and premium at $9 for one month, $6 a month on three months or $4 a month on a year. Verified students with an ISIC card or proof of student status get premium free, which is the one route an Indian college student can take without paying.
Is Novoresume ATS friendly?
Its checker is; its templates depend on which one you pick. Novoresume’s ATS checker page says “three steps, no sign-up required to see your score”, returns 0 to 100 across Job Match, Format and Structure, Content Quality, Section Organisation and Technical Elements, and needs a pasted job description plus a note on your background.12 On templates: several Novoresume layouts use two columns and icon fonts, which our rubric flags under P9 and P6 because Textkernel’s own study still leaves about one in ten column CVs reading wrongly. The only honest answer is to export your Novoresume PDF and look at the parsed text; the two-column resume and ATS section shows what interleaving looks like.
VMock and SkillSyncer resume scores explained
VMock is a campus tool scored 0 to 100 on impact, presentation and competencies; SkillSyncer is a keyword scanner that needs a job description and gives two free scans a week.
What does the VMock resume score mean?
VMock is licensed to universities, including many Indian B-schools and engineering colleges, and students log in through their placement cell. University help guides describe the score as 0 to 100 across three modules, impact, presentation and competencies, with a green zone at 86 to 100, yellow at 33 to 85 and red below 33, and a typical allowance of ten uploads per academic year.13 We could not find a public individual signup on vmock.com on 14 September 2026, so if you are not at a licensed institution, VMock is not an option. Its presentation module is closer to a style editor than a parse test; it will not tell you what a Workday or Naukri parser extracted.
What does SkillSyncer check?
SkillSyncer reads the job description you paste and lists the skills and keywords the posting asks for that your resume never mentions.14 The free plan is two job-match scans a week and ten AI credits a week, no card; premium removes the limits, and the page does not state the price. It is a keyword-gap tool, not a parse checker, so pair it with something that shows extracted text.
Best ATS resume checkers for freshers in India
A fresher needs a checker that does not punish an empty Experience section and that flags what fresher templates carry. The resume most Indian freshers actually have is two columns, a photo, contact details in a coloured header band, a 10th/12th marks table, skill bars, father’s name, date of birth and a signed declaration. In the test above, none of the eight checkers named a single one of those hazards on that file.1 On our rubric, the golden set’s hazardous two-column fresher resume scores 62, against 94 for the clean single-column file.
What to look for as a fresher:
- Projects and internships counted as experience. Ours switches fresher mode on automatically when there is no dated employment; the length checks relax and CGPA or percentage is never penalised. No other tool on this page documents a fresher mode. Naukri’s landing page has a fresher section that warns about “heavily designed templates that circulate in college WhatsApp groups”, which is good advice, but its tool returns a band with no findings.
- The marks table flagged as a table, not as marks. Three plain lines (10th, 12th, degree) parse fine; a table around them does not (rubric P10).
- Photo, DOB and declaration shown as flags you can decide on, since government and PSU formats expect them and MNC forms reject them. Ours shows them under India flags and never counts them; switch to Govt/PSU mode and the flags change meaning.
- No login, because a fresher checks the file fifteen times in placement week.
The best ATS resume checker for freshers, then, is whichever one shows you the parsed text of your own file. If the columns interleave in that view, fix the layout before you touch a single bullet.
Are ATS resume checkers accurate? What they test and what companies use
They are accurate to their own rules and no further, and companies use none of them. The test above is the evidence: one clean file, four numbers, no published weights, and two tools whose findings moved between runs.1 A checker is reliable when the same file gives the same number and every finding shows the text it came from. By that test, most of the list above is a sales number with a checklist attached.
What companies actually use is an ATS: Naukri RMS and Resdex for sourcing; Zoho Recruit, Keka, Darwinbox and freshteam in mid-market firms; Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Taleo and iCIMS at the large IT services companies and GCCs. Some of these show the recruiter a match grade, such as Greenhouse’s Strong, Good, Partial and Limited or Workday’s HiredScore grades, and their own documentation says those grades sort the list rather than reject anyone. No employer sees a Jobscan, Enhancv or ATS Score Checker number. There is no “ATS score companies go with”; there is a parse into fields and a recruiter’s search over those fields, which is the reason our rubric scores parse fidelity and findability ahead of style. On Naukri specifically, the search runs on profile fields and Boolean strings with no synonym expansion; the Naukri Resdex search section explains what that does to your keywords.
So “is this ATS resume checker legit” has a two-part answer. Legit as a checklist: yes, if it shows evidence. Legit as a prediction of rejection: no tool can be, because no ATS rejects on content.
Which is the best ATS resume checker free of charge for you?
Pick by what you need to see, then by what you are willing to give.
| You are | Use | Because |
|---|---|---|
| A fresher in placement week | ATS Score Checker, then the parsed-text view of any builder export | Fresher mode, marks-table and photo flags, unlimited re-check, no login |
| Applying to one specific posting with a full JD | Jobscan (with an account) or the JD tab here | Jobscan’s match rate is built for exactly this; ours shows named and missing terms without the account |
| Checking whether a design template parsed | Resume Worded (after signup) or the What the ATS read tab here | Both show extracted text; nothing else on the list does |
| On a Naukri-first search | Our Findability checks, plus your Naukri profile fields | Resdex searches profile fields, not the PDF; CTC and notice period matter |
| Already inside a builder (Enhancv, Zety, Kickresume, Novoresume) | That builder’s checker for its own file, then a second opinion here | Builder checkers grade their own templates generously; an outside parse is the control |
| Wanting the reasons behind a GoodSpace or 1MillionResume number | Pay ₹99 or wait a week, or run the same file here | Same file, every finding, no gate |

Questions this article answers
Which is the best ATS resume checker for free?
It depends on what you need shown. Enhancv and MyPerfectResume show a number and most findings before a gate; Jobscan is the one to use when you have a job description and an account; Resume Worded shows the text it parsed after signup. ATS Score Checker shows every finding and the parsed text without a login, but we built it, so judge it on the same table as the rest.
Which ATS checker is best for freshers in India?
One that does not punish an empty Experience section and that flags the things fresher templates carry: two columns, a photo, a marks table, a declaration block. Of the tools on this page, only ours has a fresher mode and India flags; Naukri's page writes about freshers but its tool returns a band with no findings.
Are ATS resume checkers accurate?
They are consistent with their own rules, which most do not publish. One clean resume scored 70, 72, 80 and 85 on four page-one tools in one afternoon. No employer uses any of these numbers; the only score a recruiter sees is inside their own ATS, and it sorts, it does not reject.
What ATS scores do companies go with?
None of these. Companies run an ATS such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Taleo, iCIMS, Naukri RMS, Zoho Recruit or Darwinbox. Some of those show a match grade to the recruiter, and their own documentation says it sorts the list rather than rejecting anyone.
Best resume checker according to Reddit?
We have not surveyed Reddit, and a thread is opinions without a shared test file. Judge any recommendation there by the criteria on this page: does the tool show the parsed text, the evidence behind each finding and its weights, and what does it ask for first.
Is a free ATS score checker legit?
Legitimate as a checklist, not as a prediction. No ATS rejects a resume on its content, so no checker can tell you your rejection odds. A good one shows you the text it extracted and the rule behind every finding; a poor one gives a number and a Buy button.
