Zety Resume Checker and ATS Score Explained: What Is Free, Gated and Unverified

The Zety resume checker scores a resume you upload or build for “formatting, content, and keyword issues” and returns “a personalized score and actionable suggestions” inside Zety’s builder dashboard, according to the indexed description of its checker page.¹ Zety’s own page, zety.com/resume-check, did not load for us on repeated attempts on 14 September 2026, so everything here comes from search listings of Zety’s pages and from third-party reviews, and is unverified against the live tool. What those sources agree on: the checker is a feature of a resume builder, the score is free inside an account, and the file you fix is downloadable only on a paid plan.

This page is research-based and ATS Score Checker publishes a competing tool. Zety was not one of the eight tools in our one documented hands-on run, so there is no observed score, gate or timing to report. Where a fact comes from a review rather than from Zety, the text says so.

What does the Zety resume checker score?

A general resume quality score, not a match against one job description. The listing for Zety’s checker page says the tool “evaluates your resume for common ATS issues and provides a personalized resume score along with actionable recommendations”, and that you can “upload your resume or create a new one and check its score in our dashboard”.¹ A separate Zety page snippet describes the builder comparing “your resume and cover letter to the average of all other candidates applying for the same profession as you” and scoring on that basis, and another says to “aim for a score of 80% or higher”.¹ We could not read the full pages behind those snippets.

A third-party review updated in April 2026 puts the limit plainly: “Zety’s score is based on its own proprietary algorithm. It does not measure how your resume will perform in an actual Applicant Tracking System against a specific job description.”² Another review, published in February 2026 and updated in September, describes the builder’s “real-time content scoring” as tracking spelling, grammar, bullet-point effectiveness and whether essential sections are present, and mentions parsing errors during its own upload.³

Read together: the Zety score is a style-and-completeness grade, benchmarked against other Zety users in your profession. That is a reasonable thing to measure. It is not a parse test, and no source we found says Zety shows you the text a parser extracts from your PDF.

What is free on Zety and what is paid?

The score and the suggestions appear to be free inside a Zety account; the PDF or Word download is paid. Reviews from 2026 describe the free tier the same way: build, check and preview, with export limited to plain text or, in one review’s words, “no download”.²³⁴ Pricing differs between them, which is itself a warning that the checkout page governs: one reports a $1.95 fourteen-day trial followed by $25.95 a month; another reports a trial near $5.99 or a first month near $3.99, renewing at about $23.90 a month.²³ A third notes that the renewal bills every four weeks, which comes to thirteen charges a year rather than twelve.⁴ None lists a rupee price.

Whether the checker runs before you create an account, we cannot say. The indexed description says you “check its score in our dashboard”, which reads as account-first, and our hub table lists Zety’s gate as “account, then paid” on the strength of the reviews.¹²

How does Zety’s score differ from a published rubric?

Zety’s weights, thresholds and check list are not public, and the score lives inside a builder whose business is the download. Is the Zety ATS resume builder safe to use for Indian applications?

Safe for the content; check the export before you trust the layout. A builder’s checker grades the builder’s own templates, and Zety’s checker is inside Zety’s builder. Nothing we found says the checker tests the exported PDF the way an outside parser would. The hazards that matter for a parse are known from the parsers themselves: Greenhouse names columns, tables, text in headers and letter-spaced text as causes of failed parses, and Textkernel’s own study moved clean renders of column CVs from 62% to 90%, which still leaves one in ten reading wrongly.⁵ Our rubric flags those under P9, P10, P12 and P7.

So if you build in Zety, pick a single-column template, keep your name, phone and email in the body rather than a header band, use words rather than icon fonts for contact lines (our check P6), and export to PDF. Then read the parsed text. For Naukri, remember that Resdex searches your profile fields, not the PDF, so a Zety resume changes nothing there until the profile’s key skills, CTC and notice period are filled in.

Nothing in Zety’s listings or the reviews mentions India: no rupee price, no Naukri, no check for a photo, date of birth, father’s name, marks table or declaration block.

What should you do with a Zety score?

Use it as a style check on the content, and get the parse checked outside the builder. A Zety score is most useful for what the reviews say it measures: spelling, grammar, bullets and sections. It cannot tell you what Workday, Naukri RMS or SuccessFactors will extract from the file, because no source says it looks.
