My Perfect Resume ATS Score Explained: What Is Free and What the Builder Charges

The My Perfect Resume ATS score is a “resume strength score” computed against “more than 30 criteria” in three groups, Content, Key Sections and Structure, from a file or pasted text, with no job description involved.¹ The score and an issue report are free from the page. The fixes are applied inside MyPerfectResume’s builder, and downloading the result as PDF or DOCX needs a paid plan. In the one documented run we have, a clean single-column resume scored 72 in about 17 seconds, and every finding came as a count with no text behind it.²

This page is research-based: what MyPerfectResume says on its checker page, observed on the tool’s public page on 11 September 2026, what third-party reviews report about pricing, and what we saw on 12 September when we ran one resume through eight checkers. ATS Score Checker publishes a competing tool, so read this as an interested party’s summary and check the page yourself.

What does the My Perfect Resume ATS score measure?

Nine dimensions in three groups, weighted in a way the page does not state. The checker page lists what its scanner looks at:¹

That is a content-and-style checklist with one formatting line. Compare it with what parsers say they fail on: Greenhouse’s help article on unsuccessful parses names tables, columns, complex layouts, contact details in the header and spacing between letters.³ MyPerfectResume’s list has “ATS-friendly layout” as one of eighteen sub-items, and the run described below suggests it did not catch the layout hazards on our fresher test file.

Two words on the page matter for reading the number. “Customization” implies a target, but there is no job-description field, so the checker judges relevance in general, not against a posting. And “resume strength score” is the page’s own name; the number is a pass-rate over its checks, not a prediction of anything, since no ATS rejects a resume on its content.

What is free on MyPerfectResume?

The score and a “personalized ATS report”, with the widest input list of any checker on our hub page. The page accepts “DOC, DOCX, PDF, HTML, RTF, TXT (max 5MB)” or pasted resume text, and promises an instant result; of the seven page-one tools audited on 11 September 2026, it was the only third-party checker with a paste box.¹ That is useful if your resume is stuck in a design tool: paste the text, and at least the content checks run.

In our run the score appeared without an account wall: 72 for the clean resume, in about 17 seconds.² What appeared with it was a list of issue categories with counts. No finding showed the sentence, the heading or the region of the file it came from, so none could be checked against the file. That is the single largest difference between this checker and one that shows evidence, and it is why criterion 2 on our hub page asks for the text, not the count.

What does the MyPerfectResume checker charge for?

Applying the fixes, and downloading anything other than plain text. The page’s own flow leads from the report into “Improve Your Score With MyPerfectResume’s Online Resume Builder”.¹ Third-party reviews describe the sequence after the report: a “Fix my resume” step that opens the builder, a free tier that exports .txt only, and PDF or DOCX downloads on a paid plan priced at a $2.95 fourteen-day trial that renews at $23.95 every four weeks, or $95.40 a year.⁴ Treat those figures as reported; the checkout page governs, and there is no rupee price.

For an Indian job seeker the arithmetic is the same as with Zety and Enhancv: $23.95 every four weeks is roughly ₹2,000, and a four-week cycle bills thirteen times a year, for a builder whose checker gave you counts. If the counts point at bullets, you can fix bullets in Word for nothing. If they point at layout, read the next section, because the checker may not be the tool to trust on layout.

How does MyPerfectResume’s score differ from a published rubric?

The categories are named; the weights, the thresholds and the evidence behind each finding are not. The page’s FAQ asks “What is a good ATS score for a resume?” and “Is 74 a good ATS score?”, which is a fair sign of what people want from the number, and the honest answer for any checker is: good against whose rules?¹ Our rubric on How we score answers it for ours: Parse fidelity 35, Findability 30, Impact 25, Language 10, every check with its points, pass keeps the points, warn keeps half, fail keeps none, and the same file returns the same number every time.

Is MyPerfectResume useful for Indian job seekers?

For a quick content check, yes; for the parse and the India conventions, no. The page has no India angle: its sidebar articles are on U.S. resume format, its pricing is in dollars, and none of the nine dimensions looks for a photo, a date of birth, a father’s name, a 10th/12th marks table, a declaration block, or the CTC and notice period line that Naukri Resdex filters on.¹

The run gave one concrete example. On the hazardous fresher resume, the one with two columns, a photo, a contact band, a marks table, skill bars, father’s name, date of birth and a declaration, MyPerfectResume re-rendered “Father’s Name” and “Marital Status” back to us without comment, and named none of the layout hazards.² Our golden set scores a hazardous two-column fresher resume 62 and a clean single-column resume 94, and the checks that separate them are parse checks (P9, P10, P12, P14). A checker that does not see those hazards will send an Indian fresher off to polish verbs on a file whose experience section interleaves in the recruiter’s database.

Where the checker is fine: an experienced professional with a plain Word resume who wants a second opinion on summary, verbs and numbers. The Content and Key Sections dimensions overlap with our I1, I2, I4 and I6 checks, and the paste box means you need not even export a file.

What should you do with a MyPerfectResume score?

Treat the number as a content checklist, verify the layout somewhere that shows extracted text, and do not pay for fixes you can make in Word. If the score is under 70 and the counts sit under Structure, open the file in a parsed-text view before touching a word: if the columns interleave or the phone number is missing, that is the whole problem. If the counts sit under Content, rewrite the bullets yourself, one verb and one number each, and re-check.
